Dodgy rumors (The England team)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I got an E mail of a guy from Yorkshire last week saying that he drinks with a lad that trains Keegans horses. Any way this guy was quizzing him about certain players and Keegan hinted that there could be Two or Three newcastle players in the England Squad., when he asked, "You mean Dyer and Shearer" he said not necessarily, Some of the older lads are playing quite well. Is this bollocks or is Dyer to be left out at the expense of LEE or even BARTON?

Well, let's see. It won't be:

1. Shay Given 3.Marcelino 4.Didier Domi 5.Alain Goma 8.Diego Gavilan 10.Silvio Maric 11.Gary Speed 14.Temuri Ketsbaia 15.Nolberto Solano 16.Laurent Charvet 17.Stephen Glass 18.Aaron Hughes 20.Duncan Ferguson 23. Lionel Perez 32.Kevin Gallacher 29. John Karelse 30.Stephen Caldwell 34.Nikolaos Dabizas 36.Alessandro Pistone 38.Jose Antunes 39.Helder Cristovao

So, by a process of ellimination, it ust be from:

2.Warren Barton 6.Steve Howey 7.Kieron Dyer 9.Alan Shearer 12.Andrew Griffin 13.Steve Harper 19.Jamie McClen 21.Carl Serrant 22.Gary Caldwell 24.Garry Brady 25.Brian Kerr 26.James Coppinger 27.David Beharall 28.Paul Robinson 30.Stephen Caldwell 31.Stuart Green 33.Des Hamilton 37.Rob Lee

Even so, some of these may not qualify (Green? Kerr??)

No - I go for Des Hamilton. Has to be KK's dark horse.

Well having looked into it and after a good chin wag with the cousin of Mrs Keegans Chauffeur I can only come to the coclusion that Shearer will be in the final 22 along with either Barton or Lee, or even both. Ben also informs me that Phillips will be in the squad along with Owen, Heskey and Cole. Five strikers? can this be right? Players that won't make it according to the man that knows is Ince, Fowler and Macmanmanaman.

Could be Darren McDonaugh and Peter (aka Judy) Garland I suppose!

I would be disappointed at not having Macmananananmanan in the side. He really looked the part last night For Real Madrid, thought he has a top game. Dyer may miss out because of his finishing, you can't ignore a bloke if he has 15 goals in a season, but he hasn't. Lee adds solidity but my feeling is that he is knackered and needs a rest (old man and all). Barton has been having a stormer for us, but I'd get a little twitchy for Enguland. Mind you Neville has been pants recently, maybe Barto is going as wing back. Still think the big Al cannot be guranteed his place either.

Dyer will go - an experience thing.

I doubt Barton will go, in spite of how well he has played. Would be different if he was left-footed. Lee is a distinct possibility to play in the Ince/Batty role. The problem with picking him would be that Keegan would lay himself open to criticism if he picked his old pals and england flopped.

I'd take Harper, Barton, Lee, Dyer and Shearer
