1

With so many goals this season there can be only one

ALAN SHEARER

2

Not the finished article, but has given us so much to look forward to in the future.

KEIRON DYER

3

Never gives up, always inspires, works his socks off

ROB LEE

4

Once a Zero , now a hero, This Man should be in the England squad

WARREN BARTON

5

A young lad, playing out of his skin and out of position but doing a great job

AARON HUGHES

6

Moments of Magic, shame about the consistency

NOBBY SOLANO

7

Hasn't done much wrong, should be our number one next season

STEVE HARPER

8

Scored some great goal, just lacks a bit of flair.

GARY SPEED

9

Plays where he's told to without complaining, another star of the future.

DIDIER DOMI

10

Cost next to nowt, gives his all, a great squad player

KEVIN GALLACHER

Almost making the top 10 , Alex Pistone, Helder, Dabizas and Goma and Ferguson, for having decent spells in between injuries. Next season I'd like to see more of Griffin and Gavilan along with Rebrov( I've not given up on him signing for us yet)

Rik How could you miss Dabs out from yer TEN????? He's been a Gibralten Geological marvel this season.

1. Dabs - see above 2. Barton - enormous work rate commitment and never say die 3. Pistone - was gonna have Hughs but this guy proved EVERYONE wrong - great courage and commitment - great calmness under pressure 4. Lee - Mr NUFC - brings composure to the midfield, has evolved again into a different type of player. 5. Dyer - real cutting edge 6. Solano - when good he's been on fire, adds a class, subtlty and precision to the right side. 7. Shearer - his partnership with the big lad really worked and said big lad would be in if it hadn't been for injury (again). 8. Harper, reckon the goal keeping argument is settled. 9. Domi, shown great character and said nice things aboot the toon. 10. Gallacher - sceptical when he arrived, not any more.

Lee: for total bottle and courage beyond the call of duty in the face of adversity.

Shearer: his goals tally says it all, and with the 1st 6 games in mind, imagine what could have been. Keven who???

Dabs: another show of bottle and determination. The typical 1ce a- game balls up seems to be receeding too.

Hughes: for being everyman in every position, and always answering the call to arms

Barton: solid performances in a position on the field that we have struggled to back up (Griffin)

Solano: for being (as The Mag put it) The Delivery Man

Dyer: big match temperament, fast and some great passing. Oh, and for his "10 yr" commitment for United. He knows what we're all made of :-)

Gallacher: professional and calm at the time we needed both of these attributes.

Ferguson: f**king nutter and a great Man U goal

Speed: 11 goals for a midfielder isn't bad at all, and he's certainly more than made up for his bad start at NUFC (anyone recall a swinging boot catching nothing but air during the notorious 'Serrant' Everton (a) game?)

1. Solano - best passer in the team 2. Didier Domi - playing out of position and not had one bad game. 3. Robert Lee - make him manager now, bleeds B & W and his goal at Wembley will be a moment I will never forget. 4, KD always inventive and if you gave him time to get over his injuries was always consistent. 5. Shearer - would have been higher but still can't forgive the huffy performances under RG 6. Alain Goma Our best Centre half positionally and in the tackle. 7, Franck Dumas a joy to watch with great positional sense and a true libero if ever I saw one. 8, Steve Harper still learning but his shot stopping is beyond reproof. 9, Pistone great come back after all his troubles and now even scoring goals 10, Big Yin great attitude shame about all the injuries and easily won Toon goal of the season

1. Shearer - goals & leadership
2. Lee - won a high % of m/f battles. Fantastic Club servant.
3. Barton - consistency and free of injuries
4. Speed - played invaluable m/f role, stayed fit, and scored important goals. Contribution under-estimated
5. Dabs - total commitment to the cause, stayed injury free and at times was our only CB.
6. Harper - good season and now indisputably No.1
7. Hughes - played all over the back line with great consistency
8. Dyer - provided flair, but inconsistent and missed many chances
9. Solano - good season but missed too many games
10. Gallacher - terrific low-budget buy. Team always looks better when he plays.

1. Shearer - The epitomy of a "franchise" player. Is Newcastle United.

2. Solano - Hope he stays. Like fine wine.... see Dyer.

3. Dyer - Super fast, committed, .... gets better with time.

4. Dabizas - Plays with emotion. A good thing really until it gets him in trouble. When he learns how to use emotion as a strength he will become one of Newcastle's best ever at the back.

5. Domi - One of our best passers, unselfish and makes good decisions.

6. Barton - Every team needs a Barton.

7. Ferguson - he is one tough customer, a headache for any opponent. He has some of our most memorable goals.

8. Lee - He belongs here just for the goal against Chelsea. What a glorious 5 minutes they were.

9. Gallacher - he knows how to create space and make opportunites from them, a fine experienced player.

10. Ketsbaia - Two bald heads are better than one.

I notice that Barton, Shearer and Lee are scoring high on this poll and they are my top 3 as well, in that order. It's hard to break free of the Keegan era isn't it? (-; Bartinho has been superb, especially for his attitude which should be bottled and force fed to the rest of the squad - he's a hero.

I'm not going to restrict myself to 10 as I don't want to leave anyone out, but Nobby, Gallacher & Dyer have made excellent contributions, Pistone came back from the dead (did he feign that leg- break?), Big Dunc scored the most beautiful goal since, since - well since Prince Albert's (-; Speed has been tireless and scored a good few for a midfielder, Hughes looks set to be one of the first names on the team sheet before long, Harps has made himself the number one number one as it were, Domi has played well especially in his new role, it was nice to see the return of Howey although he's not yet back to his best, and Dabs has been vital so many times, as central defenders fell about him as if involved in a famous Crimean cavalry charge. (Come to think of it, it often seems like we've got nearly 600 of them)

As for managers, YBR probably just shades it ahead of the previous incumbent - wouldn't you say? (-;

Well now Jonno - I'll need to request a nano-second or two to fully consider that one!

For the same reasons everyone else stated above. :-)
In no particular order:
Shearer, Ferguson, Gallacher, Harper, Lee, Barton, Speed, Dyer, Solano, Pistone(gotta admire the man for his determination and success at coming back so quickly from a broken leg!)

Shearer-scores the goals. 'nuff said Lee-composed and experienced. Toon hero. Barton-hardest worker in the league. 100% Geordie. Speed-much more confident and scoring goals. Dabz-held things together, back to his best. Harper-number One. Hughes-has done the business across the back. Big future here. Dyer-a Bobby dazzler. Gallacher-excellent signing. Classy player. Dunc-that goal.
