Dodgy rumours (pt 36571)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Could be the biggest load of codswallop ever but I know you lot love juicy gossip so here goes:

I was up in toon for the first time in ages over the weekend and met up with my cousin for a few (too many) pre-match bevvies. Amongst the general chit chat she threw up these interesting little morsels (not literally mind you). A friend of hers is a big shot director who wrangled lunch with a certain Mr Robson last week.

Firstly the good news. The directive from the board at NUFC is that they are desperate to ensure that all seats are filled for the forthcoming season. Now we know there should be enough toon fans out there to fill the place up twice over, but the corporate seats may take a little more persuasion. Hence Bobby's been told to buy big post season. The money issue not as tight as the press are reporting and there could be a few rather well known players joining us in the summer.

Now the bad news, Ferguson has apprently been to a specialist about his latest knock, and tests have revealed the clubs suspicions that he has arthritis in his knee. There may be people with more medical knowledge than me but it sounds pretty career threatening. NUFC is currently looking to its insurance company for cover.

If the details are vague I apologise, but the amount of alcohol coupled with no food accounts for that.

Could be a load of rubbish but I've no reason to disbelieve her. And would we be bothered about losing big Dunc if we get a hugely famous replacement?

Post your genral abuse here:

You're right...we do like gossip and stuff on here...it helps us forget the dull stuff :))

Still...I can't help wondering why Mr Robson would be telling ANYONE this kind of stuff....it just doesn't add up unless it's his psychiatrist or something ;))

I think the same about the integrity of Bobby. He's too long in the tooth to shell out info like that, I doubt even his missus knows anything about tranfer targets!

More scaremongering about Big Dunc as well I think, you'd think he would have earned a break after combining to keep us in the Prem. The knockers wouldn't say it to his face.

Hopefully the first thing we know about a signing is when he's parading about St James' in a black and white shirt, we'll keep gossiping!

Just like this!

The press are taking Bobby's appearance at the recent Wimbledon game as a sign he wants to sign Jason Euell for #5 million and Neil Sullivan on a free. Anyone got any opinions on Euell?

Sullivan is not much taller than Given is he?

Evening all I'm back, burnt and drunk. Top ca,ping trip anyway the current rumours in Japan (via The Gallowgates page) are thet Guardiola (spelling???) Is signing for 4-5 million, we are interested in Seaman from the A*se and someone else I can't remember who.

Euell - NO Sullivan - maybe Seaman - NO Guardyarolla - could be

why not Cort?

Kegsy,
Seaman ! Come on. Is that the attitude of a club with pretensions of being seen in the same light as manure ?

Are we that desperate for goalkeeping cover that we'll take a guy in the twilight of his career ?

Ok, he's an England keeper but would the ar*e allow him to go if they also didn't think he's on borrowed time ? (assuming he is going).

And this guff about Ferguson - I'll believe it when I see it.

This sort of stuff is magicked out of thin air to keep the rags on their toes - and us by the look of things.

Aye, I'd take Carl Cort too. If Dunc can't be relied upon to make, say 40% of a season, then I'd pay for a big feller who needs just the right type of experienced manager to get the best from him and mature into a quality player. Robson? Hmm, sounds good to me!

As for Dunc, I think he's had one too many injections on the knee to be expected to play more than 2 more seasons. Same for Howey. Shame.

In the same way as I was annoyed about Robbie Keane signing for Coventry last season I am equally as pissed off that Spurs are going for Rebrov, he's destined to become one of ther best players the premiership has ever seen. IF he signs for them I will be devastated, there will be NO decent strikers left.

Rik, You never know, pet. Bobby may have his eye on some lad we've barely heard of. Solksjaer may be up for sale before too much longer. A couple of the Dons forwards are really good. Don't get too depressed just yet.

Dougal, I don't want some lad that we've never heard of. I WANT US TO GET REBROV. As for Sloksjear, along with Giggs, he's the only Man U player that I wouldn't mind cheering if he was in a toon shirt. BUT, Solkjear has had a #10 m bid turned down on him. Looks like I'll have to learn to spell Gudjonsson.

You might have to don a red & white shirt also, rik!

Pit Bull,

Don't shoot the messenger! I'm just reporting what someone put on The Gallowgate's Board. Personally, I don't think it would be that good a move but I think Given's days are numbered, I think he's only playing at the mo because Hareper needs an op and could be out in the summer.

I don't understand us being linked with any goalies when we have so many already. sullivan is good, but so are harper and given. would rather see cort or gudjonnson or solkjaer or cole (if manure do buy a big name)

Apparently Gudjhonsen's been spotted in the platinum club.
