If there is a 3 or 4 million megapixel camera out there, I'd like to know about it as well! I take it you mean 3 to 4 megapixel.

All the major manufacturers you've mentioned have websites that will give you the specifications of their cameras. There is no single camera that's "best", otherwise the others wouldn't be in business. Some cameras are better for certain applications than others, but even then opinion will be divided over which is most suitable.

Price is a big factor for most people too. Some would say that the Nikon D1 is the best, but its $5000 (body only) price tag might put you off. In the end you've just got to take the responsibility yourself, and make your own decision about what to spend your money on.

search all popular sites, starting with this one... i'm not gonna hyperlink them...
www.imaging-resource.com
www.steves-digicmas.com
photo.askey.net
www.dcresource.com
www.megapixel.net

And then read the reviews... they all take about the same pictures... some slightly better some not.. look at all the features which makes the camera... nikon 990 and olympus 3030z has lots of functions... canon s20 is the smallest of them all... etc.. and remember to USE the search functions in all the forums you go to... no use cluttering your questions that has been asked a million times...

You might want to be extra careful while evaluating the Nikon D1 and the new Cool Pix 990C. The D1 has a resolution of 2.7 megapixels, whereas the CP990-C is rated at 3.34 megapixels. The big difference between them is the price: $5000 and $1000, respectfully.

Before running out and purchasing the CP990-C, I'd evaluate the size of the CCD unit first, and then the features/functions second. JVC has a 6.1 megapixel camera on the market, but it's not a true 6.1 - it interpolates HALF the resolution. Fuji's also in similar hot water for their 6.1 megapixel camera as well.

One last thing to keep in mind: if you're going to use the camera for professional work, you might want to lean towards the D1 and seriously evaluate its SLR controls. If it's for general use, then go for a simple point-and-shoot approach.
