C,

This line appears in "The Raven" and first appeared in the Evening Mirror in January, 1845 then in the American Review in February, 1845. It is spoken by the narrator as he pleads to be released from the anguish of his memories of Lenore. Specifically, he is pleading to drink deeply of a legendary potion that provides relief from grief and sorrow.

Regards.
