different brand of slides and storage

i have just started taking slides and am quite impressed with the colour that it gives...but i am wondering as to what are the difference in the different brands. i am currently using kodakchrome 200 most of the time. and also how can i store slides which could enable the longest possible lifespan.is a cabinate enuff or do i need like some specialised storages? and do alides actually loses its colour as in like over the years does the colour fades?? thanx!!

The best way to keep the slides from fading is to store it under controlled humidlity and temperature, total darkness and never take it out for viewing. But isn't this as good as not having the slide at all?
No matter how well u keep your slides, they will fade. Period.
If the slide is precious, I would make a digital scan and save it on several copies of CDs. Currently, this the best way to stop colour from fading.
