No Euro bash next season....

.......well, not unless we have a go in tht Inter Totty Cup. This is a disaster. Even in his short time with us, TDO took us into Europe. So did TSM. But what has YBR done? Failed. THat's what you get for emplying a pensioner. Might as well have gone for that Meldrew chap - at least he's a Victor.

Playing in europe was special. But we we're lucky to have even participated thanks to our back-door qualifying. Still, I think we played well and should be proud of our results. We have YBR to thank for nearly eliminating Roma. Off with old bag's head anyway if we don't finish in the top half!!

How does the inter-totti thing work? Will the USA tour be cancelled?

Keep well out of the Inter Two Bob - far too bliddy much hassle for little or no return.

Sorry but if we can't qualify by right, we shouldn't go there through the back door, that's the route for the likes of West Ham and the Makems, cos they will never qualify by league position.

If I am not mistaken, the first match of the Inter Two Bob is four days after the Euro 2000 finishes, assuming (yes I know) that England do well, and we go into the ITB, and remember, according to the rules all teams must field their strongest sides, what kind of rest are Al and hopefully YKD gonna get.

Back to being knackered before the new campaign gets under way, the Dutch G@ts mistake last close season and just what YBR said last week he would not repeat.

Yes, the European matches are nice, but they also drain a hell of a lot of resources both mentally and physically. After the season we have had, do we realy want to be travelling to some outback former Russian or Yugoslavian state or worse still, some backwater of Turkey to play in a competition we couldn't qualify for by right.....I for one say NO

I take it by Screachers remarks that they are all tongue in cheek, at least I bliddy well hope they are.

Not being in Europe next season is a blessing in disguise, imo. Not having those extra games gives Bobby time to concentrate on the league..and qualification for Europe the following season. Through the front door this time! Either as cup winners or through league position. Liverpool seem to have done well with a season out of Europe.

Pete, we can't get into the Totti cup cause we won't finish high enough in the table. That's how the US games were finally able to be confirmed. :-)

Hmmm - but Euro bashes do generate cash. But I take the point aboot fewer matches. Maybe we can concentrate on the Worthless Cup.

Screacher......whether we like the competition or not, At least the Worthless gives a rightful place in Europe by the front door, and not skulking in the back way.

Personally I would love to see us playing in Europe every season, but I'm with Ciara on this one, I think its a blessing in disguise.

Regroup, play well in the league next season, progress in the cups, more money comes in that way as well, strengthen the squad with some good players over the course of the season and then hit Europe big time next season round. Refreshed, prepared and ready to go.

ITK - agree. Seems to have worked well for :iverpool this season. I'd be happy to end up in their position this time next year.

Aren't they doing away with entry into Europe via the Worthless next season, opening another place via league position? I'm sure I heard that a few weeks back, but can't remember where.
