holistic vs. conventional medical care for cat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

hi, my cat has had his eye scratched twice while playing with my other cat. both times I took him to the vet, and the vet treated the eye. whenever I take my cats to the vet, the vet aggressively pushes vaccinations. Here is the problem: a book on holistic care for cats says that (a) corneal ulcers heal by themselves in a few days, if there is no blood), and (b) giving multiple vaccinations at one time is very bad for the cat. A holistic vet I spoke to once said that indoor cats should not even get vaccinations for diseases he/she will not even be exposed to. Does anyone have a solid opinion on holistic vs. conventional approaches to cat care? I can never tell what a vet's motivation is - giving the cat good care or making money off vaccinations. I know that my cat seems quite miserable since he was treated. Thanks for any help.
