Best Value in the P67 Lens Line?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

Pentax's lenses are generally priced by the amount of square inches/cm of lens elements that must be worked. The ED line seems to be an exception to this because of the cost of the glass itself. Not only is the cost of the ED glass high but so is the high index glass that must be used in these lenses. Anyway, if you compare the lenses that use conventional glass, there seems to be one that is under priced. If the old 300 is compared with the 400 Takumar, the lens element area of the 400 looks to be 1.8 times that of the 300. Comparing the used prices for these two in mint condition, the 400 is a real value. The price for the 400 is not 1.8 times that of the 300. The 400 Takumar is a lot of lens for the money.
