Can't copy DAT to HD, and error with Videopack 4 and mpegs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Right now i'm having a problem that i cant copy any dat files to my HD. i always get an error of that my comp can't read the CD. so far.. can't find anyone that can solve this problems. also i can't even watch any datfiles from the cd!

2nd. when i try to burn existing mpgs from my HD to video cd with videopack4. during the reading of the second track i get the following error: "GRI: WRITE BLOCKS FAILED INVALID FIELD IWCDB POSSIBLY BUFFER UNDERRUN BLOCK 16" so in the end the cd is wasted. then i tried to burn the same mpgs with WinOnCD and it works fine.(from emulation) and no errors.

3rdly. i have some mpgs that i just can't drag into winOnCD. i just don't get the green light with them. i tried fixing them with mpg corrector, vcdgear's mpg2mpg function, ifilmedit, and dat2mpg. They all don't work! :( What other programs will help me with this?

for your info: i have a amd k-6 350 cdnow Richo MP7060A cdr/rw have videopack 4, winoncd, ifilmedit, nero 32meg of ram... that is all i can think of. if u need more info please tell me and i can find out for you.

you help is greatly GREATLY appreciated

ok i think i can answer some:

3: winon cd does not accept anything higher then a normal vcd bitrate (115) if you are using anykind of higher bitrate it wont work

2: try to increase the buffer if you can, this is why i need to know what kind of bitrate cds are you trying to do

1: it could be your cdrom drive?? i own a plextor burner which reads everything. However my system came with a dvd rom drive and when i put in some vcds in that the piece of garbage it cannot read them at all. This could be similar to your problem. Also do you have the right software on your PC to play vcds movies??

Angel,

the only thing i can suggest is to see if the video pack 4 allows the buffer rate to be increased (and if your not using vp4 then look on whatever program your using). i know the NTI cd maker pro allows this. i have some crazy version of video pack 4 that i cannot run at all on my system so i coulnd look on the prgram to help more

well windows media player should do the job. but thats it not the point. right now i can't even copy it on to my HD, how would i view it?!. not that i can just double click on the file on the cd, cause the same error pops up. i have a DIAMOND DATA 36X cd rom. i tried viewing them with both my burner and cdrom. same problem.. thanks for ur help

I had a problem like this and it was something to do with a file in windows/system/iosubsys I think the file name was scsi1hlp.vxd 19kB I had to copy this file from another PC using floppy., into this directory and reboot. Then all worked. Good luck !
