I have to admit that, at first, I had difficulties with the Mark and David story. Particularly with Mark's attitude. But in this eppy, I started to get it. I was so touch. I almost cry watching the scene on the boat. I think the writers did A Fine job. Just wanted to mention that.

Response to Mark and David....

I got a little choked up to with that scene...just knowing their history, it just worked. It's incredible to see how David has deteriorated from the bowling alley scenes till now. John Cullum is doing a great job.

Response to Mark and David....

I loved the boat scene. It really brought home the nobility that some people find in confronting death. Even though Mark is exposed to death all the time, it's different when it's someone he loves. I think he has a new understanding about the contradiction of the pain of watching a loved one die and the comfort of knowing that he was there for his father when it truly counted. Most touching to me was his Dad's thank you. Their relationship has come full circle and they both realize that this time spent together will be one of the most valued times in both their lives.

Larry, I agree. John Cullum is doing an awesome job. He deserves an emmy nominiee for guest star!

I love the whole Mark/David storyline. I liked it since he showed up that day in County General after taking the late flight because it told us what kind of relationship the two were used to having. I think the writers (and Anthony Edwards and John Cullum) have done a fabulous job of showing us how much their relationship has grown and how much Mark is going to lose. This week was incredible in that sense, so that when David does die, we feel saddened too. Mark has already grown in seeing what his dad wants by bringing him to the water. And I was almost crying when Mark started to cry when stealing the supplies!

Christy, nicely said. I totally agree.

In the scene where Mark almost started crying while stealing the supplies, Elizabeth noticed but restrained from comforting him. Do you suppose it was because they were at work and tried to remain professional in front of the other staff? He could've used a hug at that moment.

Yvette, I think Elizabeth realizes how hard all this is for Mark, and how much he's been trying to avoid the truth. In one episode, she said, "I don't want to interfere," and he responded "Then DON'T." She's probably pretty nervous about how to approach him right about now, at least that's how it seems to me. But it was very touching, how he was starting to break up and she wanted to reach out to him, but seemed afraid to.

I think Elizabeth didnt say anything to Mark because she knew that he'd start crying and he'd either feel embarrased of crying in front of her or crying in public. So she pretended that everything was OK.
