Premature I know but

if we win tomorrow, we will have 47 points with three games left. RG managed 46 points last season and TSM 44 the season before.

Unfortunately we now have little chance.

After predictions of points/placings in the table posted on the BBS, we inevitably fail to win. West Ham and Bradford are two notable examples.

I hope to be proved wrong!

If any team can possibly lose at home to a team that hasn't won away all season then it's US....

Say what you will about how we've improved under YBR but one thing we still have is the ability to drop clangers like no-one else!!

ARGH!!!! No posting league position what-ifs! We're sure to lose now. :-( Though, I'll be a little consoled if Al can at least get a hat trick.

Beat Kegsy to this scream. ;-)

Just come home from work.

AAARGH I'm depressed now :(

I agree with you Gav an I reckon that Given will play tomorrow and we ALL know what he's like against Coventry

Find a happy place.....

Ooh No! IMHO it seems to always be the easy ones where we find the banana skin! (:o)

We'll be 3-0 down by half time, battle back to 3-3 with three minutes to go, then hoy it away in the 4th minute of stoppage time from a Given special.

Pistone will break both legs and dislocate a shoulder, Duncan will put his back out again falling off the steps in a rage cleaning pigeon guano off the sideboard while trying to listen to the match, Nobby will step in front of a motorised invalid carriage in a jet lag stupour, and YBR will bite a big lump out of his tongue trying to control himself at some of the referee's decisions.

Apart from that it'll be a pretty uneventful game. -)

Bloody Hell Bill, the old Viagra must be doing the trick, you have us down to score three goals before losing ignominiously, never known you so upbeat before ;-)

Softie.

Once a year - and tonight's the night. Weyhey.

Bill,

A chance to prove whether my old "superstition" can apply to your good self....if we give Coventry a good thrashing after you've had your yearly then you'll have no choice but to increase the amount of Viagra your taking...

I wonder how many people on this new bbs shuddered at the mention of the S word ;)))

I was actually trying to remember 'Prozac' and asked my colleague what that drug is called they use to cheer women up...the answer was so much better that I ran with it :-)

You could've probably also used Chocolate, Money or a Vibrator....but probably Viagra was the best answer....

Deja vuPerhaps coincidental, but nevertheless notable that as we approach the end of the season - the following are on the treatment table, as at the beginning, and seemingly ever since:

Ferguson, Marcelino, Goma, Charvet, Cerrant

The 'cost per appearance' for this lot must be staggering, and we are ending this season - as per last - totally reliant on Dabs (plus Howey) at CB, despite TDO's incredible transfer spending to improve the centre of a defence that is still far too brittle.

In addition, we have made no real progress in improving the overall strike force, and back-up to AS - a problem that has existed now for three full years, since Sir Les was sold - and still have NO back-up to Speed and Lee in centre m/f.

Progress? We have survived in the PL, and acquired YKD, but have as many problems with the playing staff now as we had at the end of last season, and indeed the one before.

Our only hope is that BR can move some of the "stiffs & crocks" out, and be provided with a reasonable wedge to be able to make some meaningful changes. Post-Wembley euphoria, I'm afraid we have rediscovered that the squad is still well short of being truly competitive. The real question is can BR be provided with the financial muscle to sort it out - even he can't have infinite patience, and he has become used to delivering success for wealthy Clubs. Much to do.

Did you get back in time to catch Bobby on Look North yesterday Clarky? He was very bullish about next season. He said it was wrong to talk about what was decided in his meeting with the Chairman, but that we could expect to see some new faces. He was also very firm about the amount of time players were spending on the sick list was simply unacceptable. He said, "Not naming any names, but several players were only available for 30 percent of the matches this season, and this cannot be allowed to continue." I reckon Darren anderton can rule out a Bosman to NUFC!

Nah Softie, it was 10pm when we staggered in, absolutely knackered after an 18 hour journey.
It's a pity as I love listening to Bobby. He's so self-effacing and refreshingly open and honest.
I really feel that there will be quite a few changes during the close season - probably more than most people imagine. Bobby will have fully assessed the present squad, and will know they are not good enough. Provided the Board is able to back him financially he will definitely strengthen the squad and address the very obvious deficiencies in it. Going to the Strawberry today pre-match?

Morning you two early birds! Don`t tell anyone, but it`s sunny here this morning! Shhh! Don`t want everyone streaming down here for the Bank Holiday! How`d it go Clarky? Sounds like you were enjoying Arizona. (:o)

Morning Galaxy.
Yup, I'm back - jet-lagged and exhausted, but slightly suntanned, even after the horrors of DC in our first week. Mind you it was bloody grim in London yesterday!
I've been to AZ a number of times, and absolutely love the place. It was actually very hot for the time of year, peaking at 103 degrees on Thursday before we left. However, it's a dry heat and provided you can either escape to a/c or the pool when needed, its not unpleasant. We actually played golf on Wednesday in 102 degrees, and riding a golf cart and drinking copious quantities of water, I found it fine - the dive in the pool afterwards was special mind!
I've posted a description of our visit to the Pheonix Diamondback baseball stadium on another thread (can't remember which) which was very interesting.
Still, back in the golden City and a footy game to prepare for today - talk to you later with my impressions.
