Epson PhotoPC 3000Z

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Ok, I'm trying to decide between the Olympus 3030Z and the Epson PhotoPC 3000z. There isn't much Epson talk here, and I was just wondering if Epson is a good digital camera maker and so forth. And then of course there is the decision between smartmedia(Oly) and compact flash (Epson). My first choice was the Olympus, but as of late I'm leaning to the Epson. I also really like the fact that Epson bundles some NIMH batteries and a charger with their camera. BUT I love the remote idea on the Olympus! As you can see I'm torn between these two. Any and all opinions and takes would be appreciated!

I have an Epson 750Z and a 850Z. I am very happy with both of them. I am planning on getting the 3000Z soon after it comes out. There are nice things about both the 750Z and 850Z. It looks like they have taken the best of both of them added the 3 megapixel image and created the 3000Z. Personally I prefer the feel in my hand of the 750Z or 850Z over Olympus. Also I feel the compact flash will hold up better over time than the thinner smartmedia. The hotshoe of the Epson is nice too.

here is a review between the Canon, Epson, and Olympus 3 megapixel cameras.

I don't know about the Olmypus, but after a week with a new 850Z I'm raving about it...amazing. USB, Serial, tons of software-manual, program, and automatic control. Incredible picture quality. Light and ergonomically superior camera...I chose it over a Nikon 950/ 990...bought it at Sears for $618--they price matched an instock Internet price. I'd give the camera a 9.5 out of 10...the only complaint is a lack of a camera case in the bundle...nothing to do with the camera quality or features. A winner.
