Save Our Football Club

No, NUFC seems to doing OK... I was referring to Barnet FC which is danger of being expelled from the league because it would be impossible to redevelop the current site and the stockbrokers in that area objected to their building a ground elsewhere to share with the rugby team in case it brought undesirables to the area (although Barnet has had ONE football-related arrest in 5 years). They have been given til the end of next season to sort it out or they will be expelled. This is a club that was once almost expelled from the league because their previous chairman was allegedly involved in shady dealings. The current chairman, a supporter of Barnet, doesn't see a way out. Shall we spare the poor supporters of this club a thought next time we moan about anything NUFC-related. The 2000 who troop down to Underhill(I think it is, may be wrong) every fornight love their club every bit as much as we love NUFC.

I heard the Barnet chairmen on the radio a while back, and the treatment they are receiving from the FA/FL is shameful. There are several clubs in the same division who do not meet the requirements as laid down by the FA; Colchester (I think), Brighton and a couple of others I can't remember. None of those clubs have been threatened with expulsion, and as far as I could gather had the FA/FL approval.

They also suggested a ground share which was refused even though they had a place to go. Again ground shares are commonplace these days.

Poor buggers.
