Olympus 2020 - really so good ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi;

What I see on web tells Olmp 2020 is really good. But still not the latest model and not as hot as say coolpix990. But the impression i get from coolpix shots on web as if were looking through a wide glass - they seem a little flat. Plus, you see the skin as doctors do under microscope - I didn't get use to it. Still, I hesitate. Can anyone based on personal experience say Olmp 2020 is really good - especially and particularly for portraits - or another camera wins - may be Olpm 2500 or Kodak 280 - though with litte zoom may be not as good for close shots - then may be Kodak 290?

PLEASE advise, Yevgeny

I can't comment from direct comparisons other than actual pictures I've viewed on the web. As for the 280, I own one and love the way it represents colors. That's what drew me to Kodak in the first place. For indoor portraits I actually like to light the room real well and not use a flash. The camera seems to produce more realistic color blending, particularly whites, this way and still produces what I feel is stunning contrast.

Each camera is "in the eye of the beholder" in my opinion. It's kind of like loud speakers...you buy what your ears like. With digital cameras buy what your eyes like. I think you'd be compromising to do anything less. Don't be swayed by a bunch of reviews, buy the best camera you can afford and let your own eyes be your guide.

Good luck with your choice!
