JonBenet's parents say no to lie detector test

BOULDER, (Reuters)- Negotiations to have the parents of slain six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey take a lie detector test broke down Tuesday and Boulder police chief Mark Beckner said John and Patsy Ramsey will not be taking the test. After weeks of negotiating, Boulder police said they could not "further compromise" on the issue of who will administer a polygraph test to the parents of the girl found strangled to death in the basement of her home on Dec. 26, 1996.

The Ramseys, whom officials say are still under "an umbrella of suspicion" in the case, offered to take a polygraph test shortly after the publication of their book, "The Death of Innocence" in March.

The mystery of the little girl's death is still unsolved.

The couple said that they would take the test if certain criteria were met. But in the weeks since that announcement the Ramseys and the police have been haggling over the exact conditions of the test.

The Boulder police agreed to the Ramseys' requests arranging for the testing to be done in Atlanta, where they now live, by an independent examiner and for the results of the test to be made public.

The deal breaker was Federal Bureau of Investigation involvement in the testing, according to a statement released by Police Chief Beckner.

According to the statement, police suggested that the FBI do the testing because of their expertise.

But Ramseys' lawyer, Lin Wood, told Beckner that his clients didn't want to be tested by the FBI. "They believe the involvement of the FBI and the FBI laboratories in the investigation of their daughter's murder prevent them from being independent examiners," said Wood.

Beckner said that his department offered to compromise by assigning an examiner who "had no prior knowledge or involvement in the Ramsey case." Further the department offered not to be involved in selecting the FBI examiners.

Apparently that did not satisfy the Ramseys, who were not available for comment. "Obviously we're disappointed that the Ramseys have declined to take the polygraph exams, after very publicly saying they would," Beckner said.

"However, our offer still stands."

The Mother killed the Daughter and all of the investigators know it. However, they may never be able to prove it in a court of law. I hear she has taken to playing golf with O.J.

There is justice thoughshe and her pathetic husband will be social outcasts forever and will have to live the big lie together. Enjoy.

Does anyone remember the statement John Ramsey made when some tv person asked him words to the effect "what he would wish for the killer?' He said one word "Forgivness". Christians have been persecuted for lessor reasons. Think on it.
