Title: Cable Problem, Squirrel Cause Outages

by Merry Thomas, Bonanza Staff Writer

Many Incline Village residents were affected by a power outage Monday at about 3:45 p.m. The outage occurred as a result of an underground cable failure off of Fairway Boulevard, according to Sierra Pacific Power Company spokesman Chris Daley.

"It affected a very small area -- the Woodmere condos across from The Chateau," said Daley.

Members of the power company crew finished replacing the cable and all of the connectors and other parts early Tuesday morning.

Another power outage occurred Tuesday morning at about 8:45.

"A squirrel committed suicide," said Daley.

The Incline Village Health Center lost power when a squirrel on the riser pole stood up or swung around and its tail got caught, crossing the ground and the connector.

"There was no damage done. It blew the fuses. They were replaced and the insulators were cleaned up," said Daley.
