Am I Being Unreasonable ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

On Sunday I managed to be in the North East at the same time as - 1 - my lads birthday - 2 Toon being at home - 3 managing to get through to the Box Office and get 3 tickets for Josh & 2 Josh juniors.

Not together but in the same row seats 66,74 & 84. My calculation says Toon supporters will move 1 or 2 seats so I can be with my bairns.

Wrong.

Only one of the fans was prepared to move at the 1st request and the rest kicked off at the merest thought.

Solution was Laura sat on her own & I stood in the aisle behind the seats with James. I was finally saved by the 2 early Leeds goals prompting 2 guys to get up and leave as soon as the 2nd one went in - you can have these 2 because we're off - 3:18 pm !!!!!

The question is was I being reasonable expecting the others to move ?

Well, had it been me with the ST and you'd asked me to move, I'd have done it gladly. We need to encourage the bairns to be there and the attitude you encountered was a bit harsh. However, some folks regard it as their own private area ne'er to be used by outsiders. You never got that when it was standing only!

As for the 2 tossers who left early, they missed a good game. It ain't very often we come back from 2-0 down. We often cave in when 2-0 up, but it was a spirited fight back.

Probably being hopeful about people being gracious enough to move 1 or 2 seats either way to allow a father to sit with his 2 children. People never cease to amaze me. :-(

And I hope you grabbed teh ST books off the 2 that left after Leeds goals! That's what really angers me...people pay all this money but then walk away when the going gets tough. Fine "supporters". :-/

The early leavers weren't wearing colours so must have been part timers. My wife still can't get her head round the way everybody here wears Toon shirts.

We went to lunch on Monday in Wessington to a kids friendly pub - dangerously close to the Stadium of S**te but when I was there a couple of years ago they lost some game or other at Wembley. You should have heard the condescening b*stards talking to some Bradford fans before the game - the result must have been sweet for the Bantams that made the trip.

That was rotten Josh. I know if I had young kids I wouldn`t be comfortable having them sit on their own. Unfortunately, I think that this BBS probably lulls us into a false sense of security. It wouldn`t have hurt them to do a bit of a shuffle, but I guess you will come across bloody minded people in all walks of life. Must admit though, it`s one of the things that worries me a bit if Yelli and I get offered season tickets for next season. You can`t pick your neighbours can you! As for them leaving so soon - well, that just about sums them up anyway! Hope it didn`t spoil your enjoyment. (:o)

Galaxy,

I'll look after Yelli for you.....honourably like!! ;)

As for people not wearing colours being part time supporters....BOLLOX!! just about everyone of my mates from home who goes to games regularly NEVER wears colours....it goes back to the days when footy violence was rife and having the ability to mingle with a crowd should trouble kick off, nothing like a football shirt to attract the police...

Actually Gav, I was thinking of me! (:o)

Well said Gav. I have never worn a replica shirt nor will I. I will stick to my second lucky black shirt. The first one proved to be so unlucky after a promising start that I had to switch to this one which has seen us lose every time I wore it. Oh no it's me isn't it I'm the unlucky mascot I knew it. I knew it

Galaxy,

Of course I'd look after you as well darling!!! how silly of me not to offer......I just kinda figured that you already had a big protector!! ;))

Bake, no big thing, it just needed pointing out that shirts don't necessarily a supporter make....I know more than enough plastics who wear shirts for reflected glory...

I was a guest at the new restaurant at the Watford game and a elderly couple were there. They were sitting waiting for the game to start when they were informed the were in the wrong seats so they moved to the row behind them (in front of me) but were split in the process. There were three people sitting between them, that's 3 people, and despite my "Wouldn't you think these people would let them sit together" in a loud voice, they stayed apart for the 1st half.

2nd half they were one of the many latecomers out of the leazes corner and he chose a 3rd seat, again separated from his wife but in front and next to a lovely young blonde lady. I was pleased to see her latch on to some bloke, don't you just love a happy ending.

Gav

Part time is a definition that definitely applies to these guys - they left @ 3:20.

Admittedly the Toon were in dire showing at the time but as we've said on here many times thats when the crowd should get up and get things going - not get up and go.

Most of the tw*ts who wouldn't move were in colours. I was naive I suppose.

Anyway I'm a part-timer myself really - doesn't stop me being a Toon fan. I think I've seen the Resevres more this year than the 1st team.

Ho Hum

Josh

No, you were NOT being unreasonable, Josh.

Miserable gits! I was in a vaguely similar situation once and luckily everyone just shuffled good naturedly around. Mind, you might expect a woman with kids to get a bit more sympathy but that in no way condones what happened. Grrrrrrrr!

You can't pick your neighbours, I suppose.
