Animation using Premiere and Digital camera?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I was thinking of trying to do animation by capturing still images from a digital camera using Adobe Premiere's "Stop Motion capture" option. I have heard however, that there might be a problem with this. Does anyone know why? I figured that I could probably get a digital still camera with higher (possibly broadcast quality?) resolution for cheaper than an equivalent video camera, and since I'll only be taking single frames at a time, I don't necessarily need real-time video. Is my thinking totally wrong on this? Thanks for listening! -

Unfortunately I can't answer your question directly - but I would add that the term "broadcast Quality" in todays technology is a significant degradation of the images you can capture with most moderately priced digital cameras (US $499 and up).

I think the problem will be that Adobe Premire will be looking for a different file than the normal Jpeg of a digital camera. All is not lost though. I don't know what you're looking to do with this but from your Jpeg images then can be put together into an animated Gif. These are single pictures stitched together to show rough movement.
