Has Van Nistlerooy failed his medical?

Answers

According to ceefux they are carrying out further tests on an 8-week old knee injury. They will decide in 2-3 days whether or not to go ahead.

Can't believe they didn't know he was injured - then again it took them 18 months to get Cole fit.

I guess it depends on the state of the injury. If simple, they will probably assume it will be OK soon. They'll be looking for other more serious problems, tho how the Ugly Sisters got thru any medical I can't imagine. I'd have thought they'd be up before the General Medical Council (or summat) due to genetic deficiencies.

Either I`m losing it, or Taggart is, `cos I`m sure I heard him interviewed on the news yesterday refusing to say that Manure were in the process of buying him anyway! Someone tell me they heard it too! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 26, 2000

Sorry honey but all I've seen of Taggart this weekend has been him saying how happy he is with the purchase and that he isn't necessarily getting rid of anyone...

Another posting down....Softie your in my sights!!

Yeah but aggregate score Gav. Softie and Ciara have @thegallowgate.com as their email address so you want to tot up both totals!

kegsy,

I've got one as well but just haven't been using it here ;))

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to post something else ;))

Fingers crossed that is is a major stuff up on the part of ManUre.

All that technology and money and they try to buy duff players !!!!

;o)))))

What happens if manure do turn him down ? Would it be worth our taking a gamble on him ? Just think of the brownie points if we signed him and he knocked two hattricks past manure the first time we play them. Lavly Jabbly. :-))

Not likely to happen though is it Bill? our board aren't likely to buy a player who fails a medical...

Didn't we pull out of a deal for Taribo West last year cos he failed the medical?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2000

Yup. The scan failed to show up a brain. He's currently residing in the "Where are they now?" file.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2000

The puzzling thing is, what have manure uncovered that PSV missed (or are keeping under wraps) ? Is it just scar tissue from the original injury and op, or is there damage still, that needs to be sorted ?

He's training, so it doesn't look as if it's that much of a problem, although it's starting to take on some of the overtones of the con Everton pulled when they sold us big dunc, except manure have seen something more obvious than could be seen in dunc's case.

Or it's a convenient way to get out of the deal now that Edwards has threatened to close up the checkbook.

Ciara,
If that's the case, I'm back to saying b****x to paying off a bit of debt, blow the lot on getting him here. If he's like us and thinks the sun shines out of Bobby's bum, he'd leap at the chance to come to SJP.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2000

Just heard on Virgin Radio that Ruudy's deal is off. Something about him not agreeing to 'extra conditions' placed by Manu.

If his injury really isn't that serious, maybe this incident will drop his price. Though I'll probably win the lottery sooner than Bobby will get anywhere near enough money to buy the guy.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2000

what is it with Bobby's previous strikers? Ronaldo seems f*cked aswell......Maybe he just flogs 'em for all they're worth????

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

Man U want to give him an exploratory op to check on the extent of the damage - RVN wants to play in Euro 2000 - typical Taggart-trick to stop his players competing in international competition.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

So maybe I wasn`t losing it when I said that I`d hear Taggart backpeddling like mad about him! (:o) How very reassuring!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

Latest is that he's just broken down in training back at PSV so he might be going under the knife anyway. Damn! If only they'd paid the money yesterday...

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

>>>broken down in training

I'm not surprised. The poor lad must be really gutted. I'd have broken down in the bliddy bar at Manchester Airport if it had been me. He should sue the b@st@rds. Character defamation, broken promises, undue pressure causing a training ground injury due to being pressurised to prove his fitness. #19M would be fine compensation for the poor lad.

A grand cock-up on Manure's part. They knew the lad has been recovering from injury. Wouldn't it have made sense to do the medicals BEFORE shouting to the world that he was being signed? BEFORE scheduling a press conference?

Even Ruud Gullitt wasn't that dumb. ;-)

Seriously, though I hope RVN recovers completely and signs for another English club...and that club goes on to win the league next season. With RVN pushing Keane out of the way to put a few in the back of Manure's net on the way. :-)

Ciara - there certainly would be a kind of poetic justice in that! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

It would have been far too much to hope that they'd have handled it so that they came up smelling like Duncan's pigeon cree so let's settle for what we've got. It's still a canny laff - maybe not quite a full bellied TEE HEE, but not far off. -)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

Apparently he's due another operation in a couple weeks and could be out up to 8mos.

On the official s*ite, Bobby is speaks well of the lad(and Shearer actually), saying he'll be calling Ruud.

Hmmm...8mos recovery...we should be storming up the league tables by then with an eye on Europe for th following season....the board releases more money.....maybe he can still be ours?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

I'm sure he's out of contract relatively soon..

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2000

It looks as though the Manure medical staff may have been spot on in their assessment of RVN's dodgy knee.
In training yesterday during his rehabilitation from a medial knee ligament injury, he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee.
This certainly suggests there was instability in the joint, and is a much more serious, and potentially career-threatening injury - similar to that suffered by Gazza and Alan Shearer.
It's all gone very sour for the lad - let's hope he makes a full recovery.
