Windows Media Player has a softening filter?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have noticed that Windows Media Player has some sort of softening affect... as if it is putting a soft filter over the MPEG. I don't find this desirable. Does anyone know if their is a way to turn it off?

By the way, to see what I am talking about, set media player so that it opens multiple windows and you can play more than one mpeg at once. Start to play one mpeg and then pause it. Then open it again in another media player window. The SECOND window will play the mpeg with much more detail and sharpness!

What's up with that?

If anyone can figure this out let me know.
