Great article- Thanks Alissa.

They said that Kerry defies pigeonholing. THAT IS WHY I ADORE HER! I have similar feelings about Romano, but I just haven't gotten to know him as well and I'm still p***** about what he did to Elizabeth and Maggie.

Thank you Allyssa! Except for the cheap shots at the other characters, the article was grand. "Frosty", "intrepid gait"- that's what I'll call it from now on. Do you agree with the comment that most viewers would not be her friend? I don't know if I do. I would like to be her friend, if she let me :D! I think she is so interesting and varied. It was inaccurate to say that character is not important on ER- I think that is wha has made it so successful. Yes, the rollarcoasster is fun, but if we didn't carea bout the people, we wouldn't tune in six years later to she another blood spurt, another defib. Other characters have tried to be less "attractive and heroic" (Mark, Carter) but the change was not well recieved. We like the nice to be nice but have failings, and the tough ones (Kerry, Romano) to be tough and crusty (KErry less so since she is not really hateable and we usually like her), but have some good qualities. I'm glad INnes enjoys her role, it is the best one- I hope she isn't changed *too* much as she gets more air time.

May- You are so right about characters being what keeps us coming back for more. Sure, we all probably started watching ER because the medicine and individual ER cases are interesting. But I know what keeps me watching from week to week is the ongoing character plots. And IMHO these plots and characters are extreemly believable. Weaver especially. As the artical points out, that cane is a physical reminder to us that there is much more to the characters past then we know. Weaver is one of the, if not the most, "real" characters on the show. She's not perfect or at all vain, she's got faults, and every show we get a little more insite to who she is. We don't know a whole lot about her, but we know enough that she's interesting. Laura Innes does an excellent job with the character, and I'm glad she enjoys her role because I want her to be around the ER for a long time to come.

Let me add my thanks to those of the others, Alissa. That was a great article--it summed up Kerry's character so well. I just said to someone the other day that the reason I love her is because she is so wonderfully complex.
