IONS: EMERGING WORLDVIEWS...

The projects in this module of the research program by shed light on ways in which social and cultural variables shape our common--sense assumptions about reality and define limits to human potential--determining what is normal and abnormal, possible and impossible. Our dominant Western view is based on several assumptions--realism, objectivism, and reductionism. Yet cross--cultural research reveals a wide range of epistemologies, belief systems, worldviews, ideologies, and social practices which organize reality in a different way. The projects in this module explore the effects of taking a different ontological position, one which views the human organism from an extended perspective with capacities and influences that may extend beyond the material body.
