Nikon MH-15 charger (F100) alternative?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Just wondering if anyone knows of a cheaper alternative charger for the Nikon F100 Ni-MH battery. $260 for the charger and $120 for the battery sure can buy a lot of AA alkaline batteries. Thanks.

The MB-15 (battery pack) will take six "AA" NIMHs without problem. I use NIMH directly in the camera even though Nikon says not to. Works fine so far.

I use a Radio Shack Universal battery charger to charge my Ni-MH (MN-30) batteries for my F5, and it works well. It's also a lot cheaper (around $50)than Nikons charger. Maybe it will work on the F100's Ni-MH battery pack too. Here's the web address:

The Radio Shack charger does work for both the F5 and F100 batteries. The catalog number is #23-250 and it is identical to a charge made by MAHA and sold by Thomas Distributing. The price, as mentioned in a previous post, is around $50. You can find several posts referring to this in the photo.net archives. Search under batteries and rechargeable.

I have charged mny F5 and F100 battery packs now with no problems. This unit can also be used to charde NiCd and NiMH bateries for Canon cameras and many video cameras.

Good Luck
