Wenger rates NUFC for next season...

Picked this out of a sporting life piece with Wenger slagging off the FA for allowing Man Utd to basically have a winter break :-

"United will not have everything their own way though next season and run away with things. We have had real problems with injuries and Leeds, Liverpool and Cheslea are doing well and Newcastle will get better. Since I have been in England every year the league has got stronger."

Interesting to see that he's picked us as a team that might be able to cause problems :)

He basically had this to say about Manure:

CHAMPIONSHIP A SET-UP?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has questioned the merit of Manchester united's sixth Premiership crown in eight years.

The outspoken Frenchman is adamant that the contest for the Premier League was loaded unfairly in United's favour from the start of the season. " The league was organized for United this time, there can be no doubt about it," said Wenger.

"In the previous two seasons there was just a single point between ourselves and United. The first time we won the championship by a point and last season United beat us to it by the same margin and also won the treble. This time there have been two major factors involved. Arsenal have been inconsistent - no doubt about it. But United have thrived by being allowed a mid winter sunshine break and not being required to play in the FA Cup."

The Frenchman continued: " I would never consider withdrawing Arsenal from the FA Cup. I was against United being allowed to do it from day one. I have not changed my mind. The break they had in going to Brazil in January for the World Club Championship worked perfectly in their favour. While they were absent potential challengers like ourselves dropped points. So when they returned they had a considerable psychological advantage after enjoying a restful break. Even more advantageous was the fact that they could organize Premiership games to be played on the days their challengers were involved in the FA Cup."

On soccer extra yesterday, they said we were worth a bet for the championship next season. We'll have to buy at least one striker and a full midfield but they may be right.

Bit of a role reversal here, but don't go overboard. I think that we can challenge for a Uefa spot and even push for a champions League spot, but we are a long way off the finished article.

We haven't got the squad in depth and 10 million isn't going to be enough for that. And we are far too inconsistent all over the field. Nope, I think a solid top half finish and a cup run and some silverware from from one of the cups will be the target for next year.

The fact that we are lumped in with the likes of the makkems and the smoggies when it comes to competing for players is more of a pointer to where we are than anything Arsene wenger has to say about us.

We'll be where we should be when the likes of manure and arse are s**t scared that we'll beat them to players like van Nistelrooy. We weren't in the hunt this time.
