what camera has the best optics&image quality

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hello: I am looking for a digital camera to portrait shooting, so I am concerned that the faces don't look too round or long, what sometimes happens. I have looked through the photo examples over different cams. and probably Kodak 280 is a good one, still I see its lens focal range is low, and I think this may lead to some extra roundness of the facial features. Can anyone recommend a really good camera for portraits in the sub $1.5K range?

Thanks, Evgeny

Without any doubt - Canon Pro 70. Combined with the Canon 380EX Speedlight it has no rival for under $1500.00

Even with the advent of the 3.3 Megapixel cameras none of them can compare to the Canon Pro 70.

One of the best set of optics there is for a digital camera.

Check out the reviews on this site, also on steves digicams and slso on Phil Askey's site.

Good Luck

Yes, I looked again through Pro70. What is good, there is about no barel distortion. What is still a concern - shots seem slightly dark overall - 'd say gray. May be improved via software?..

Overall probably the best portrait camera. Thanks for advise. Evgeny
