EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP -- A US Airways Express jet carrying 47 passengers made an emergency landing Friday at Atlantic City International Airport after smoke was detected in the cockpit.

Flight 4842, which was headed from New York's LaGuardia airport to Savannah, Ga., landed safely at 3:23 p.m. and there were no injuries, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Holly Baker.

The 50-seat Embraer 145 regional jet was operated by Chautauqua Airlines as a US Airways Express flight, Baker said.

The cause of the smoke was under investigation.
