I thought i might be moving, so before winter i dugg up all my bulbs and put them in buckets of sand in my garage through the winter. I noticed that now they have started growing in there, but of course the leaves are a very pale green from the darkness, I still don`t know about moving, so i would like to plant them in pots. My question is- Do i just cut off the green leaves that are growing and plant just the bulb? And do you think they will make it after what i have done to them?P.s. i live in wisconsin,if that makes a difference! thankyou ,jody.

Depends on how soon before you're gonna get them all the way transplanted. I live in Wisconsin to, I'd just put them outside the way they are for now. Is there good enough drainage in the bucket? Put them outside, out of the wind for a few days and see if they get their color back. Maybe someone else will have a better idea but that's what I've done before.

They've had kind of a tough time, so I'd go ahead and pot them up. Treat them like tender seedlings and introduce them to bright sun and wind gradually. I wouldn't cut off the leaves. That's all the bulbs have to create their food with. Pat's right drainage is important, but right now I'd be most worried about getting them in some soil and light. They'll also need a good deal of water to start, be careful not to drown them though. Gerbil
