ATI AIW16 MMC Usage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I went out and bought an All In Wonder128 16MB card to put in my 2nd system (PII 300, 64MB, 66mhz bus) but realized that I am at a dead-end with that motherboard and bus speed. I have decided to wait on installing the card and am ordering a new case/motherboard/processor combo pack (PIII 600b, Soyo board w/ 133 bus speed) to put it and a new 7200 ultra66 30.5GB HD together. My question is... can I install the ATI MMC without the card installed? I have an ATI AIW 64 currently on the system. I haven't tried it yet cause I don't want to mess up my existing drivers that have been stable for a long time. I've read that the MMC 6.2 has some good features and I would like to take advantage of them while I am waiting to put my new system together. Any help or hints on installation issues/incompatabilities? Thanks.

Have you tried looking at the directory of the installation disk to see if it has a seperate install? That may be one way to do it. I'm just guessing because I don't use a ATI card and can't check it.
