Sax Player, Victoria, BC

Wide angle lenses are difficult for me to use. I was only about 4-5 feet away from him when I took this with a 21mm. I think I should have gotten closer.

Yes, I would have gotten closer. In fact, I would have crouched way down and put the case and "college fund" sign right in front of the lens. The cool thing about wide angles lenses is their ability to do near/far shots. Fill up the bottom of the image with the case, and add the sax as an "accent". The presentation, as is, is too falt.

And I thought I was pretty close here when I took it. Wide lenses sure force you to get close to something. I'll try for closer yet. I did crouch low to take some near/far shots of flowers(near, about a foot) that seemed to work pretty well.

I don't think you needed to be closer. It's a good shot, lots of local character in it, although it's been a few years since I was in Victoria. It is a bit static though, for a shot of a musician, partly because of the bystander. But it works anyway.
