Pet Peeves

What are some of the things that just make you grimace? Pet peeves of mine?

I *hate* it when people getting on the bus/elevator/etc. feel the need to shove on before the people gettting off have even had an opportunity to begin moving forward. What is that? I don't understand why it's such an alien concept that things would move so much more smoothly if everyone just gave a little time for those in front of them.

Another, and this one is totally irrational... I hate the wind. It irritates me to no end. Last night walking to my car, I felt like one of those crazy people you guys are talking about elsewhere on the forum because it was so damned windy.

When I subscribe to a magazine, I hate it when someone else gets the mail and reads my magazine before me. It's like they're going to ruin a good article or something by telling me before I read it. It peeves me.

A few of mine I'd like to get out into the open:

1. I hate having to repeat myself. I said, having to REPEAT MYSELF!

2. "Left turn yield on green." Like the general public has the brains to know when to turn left in front of oncoming traffic.

3. College instructors that take attendance, and then apply the attendance record to your final grade. Pisses me off. I scored what I scored - leave the rest alone.

4. People who try to pronounce my name "Hyth." I realize it's not spelled like the normal "heath," but these people come to me and say, "That's the GERMAN pronunciation, THEY say the SECOND vowel sound." Well folks, this ain't Germany and I ain't German. Two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking. Nome sane?

everyone should stop:

playing air guitar/drums, especially to techno music

singing along to a song (not karioke), even if you have a great voice. there is a reason you do not have a recording contract yet

standing in door ways, in front of stairways, in the middle of walk ways, you should pay attention to the world (waitress) around you, food trays are heavy.

1. People who finish with a cigarette and just toss it on the ground or out of their car -- like a cigarette butt somehow doesn't count as littering. 2. Highway drivers who stay in the far left lane even if the lane to the right is clear of traffic. 3. Any use of the word "classy" except as a goof.

People who just *have* to shove onto an already crowded T car (subway for you non-bostonites), like there isn't going to be another train coming in 5-10 minutes.

And why to people in MA think that when it says "Left turn yield on green" the first person turning left, when the light changes, gets to go, even though oncoming traffic has the right of way?

My biggest pet peeve is people who sit in their cars and have a conversation - either with someone else in a car stopped alongside them or with someone standing next to the car. Pull off to the side of the road and get out of your car if you want to chat -- show some consideration -- and get the hell out of my way!!!

People who chew gum and make loud smacking noises.... Oh my god, it practically drives me to homicide.
