Do your closest friends tend to be men or women? [Question from The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock, Ph.D.]

I'm not too happy with the phrasing of the follow-up question, because I can think of at least one smart-ass who will be strongly tempted to answer, "yes." I have a limit of seven occurrences of that particular smartassery, per person. Just so you know. Yes, I'm talking to you... :)

My closest friends tend, by and large, to be women. Among my oldest, most durable friends, there are both men and women -- but women seem to be outnumbering the men, especially among the friendships gained during the past ten years or so. I'm not certain why that is (beyond, of course, the fact that I *like* women a lot :{> ). It's something my wife Elizabeth first noted a few years ago, and that was the first I'd thought about it.

I don't know if I "vibe" better to "female energy" or what. Whatever the reason, I do tend to open up more comfortably with women, and they with me, which facilitates the growth of acquaintanceships and friendships of all degrees (including "intimate friendships" under the umbrella of responsible polyamory).

As to the initial question, "Do I prefer being around men or women?" ... Let's say I prefer being around interesting people, and if more of them happen to be women, then that's all the better. :{>

Duck?! So Ms. Enigmatic prefers water fowl to men and/or women?

Hmmmm. Well, okay. Different strokes. Cuts down her Chinese food options, though.
