Look at it this way. 35mm cameras use roll film to "save" the image to. The image is recorded onto the light sensitve film. A DIGITAL camera records an image electronically to, for example, a floppy disk. It is now a Digital image

Since a digital camera records a picture in a medium compatible with your computer, those images can now be incorporated into your web content.
