Any of you remember when TMEN had a regular page featuring ham- homesteaders in each issue plus a regular net on the air?

I'm not, but interested in exploring the possibility. I was intimidated a bit by some stuff I have read, and repulsed a little by the kid at Radio Shack. Can you possibly recommend some good resources for total newbies? Thank you.

sheepish, i will get you some info in a few days about ham radio. there should be local hams in your area that can help you. some may be crabby, some will be very nice and bend over backwards to help you. some good places to visit are www.arrl.org www.qrz.com i will send you some more sites.

also, field day is coming soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is something that you absolutely positivell must attend. you will be immersed by all kinds of ham radio at once. most likely, depending on where you live, there will be at least several groups participating in field day. i would plan on visiting at least several on field day. i will get you some information about this too.
