VOTE...VOTE...VOTE

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

OK this is your chance.......Andy (Scratchy) and I are using the Daily Toon website to organise a poll for the Toon player of the year.

The voting form is on http://www.dailytoon.co.uk/ and you are asked to vote for your favourite overall player, and then Favourite keeper, defender, midfielder and striker.

We will then not only discover who the fav player is, but by the other votes, what the favourite/best 11 would be considered to be.

So why not have a go, and get over to the Daily Toon website and have a vote.....bookmark the site as well, we are trying hard on it, and it is looking, you might even like reading it.

I wanted to vote, but Micr*s@ft Outhouse kicked in which is so utterly pants and incapable of sending a message without my changing half the settings on my workstation, that I shall have to decline. Sorry :-(

ITK
Having a similar problem to Softie. Filled in the relevant bits, pushed VOTE and got hoyed into an Outhouse blank e-mail. Went back to the voting form and tried copying the votes and then pushing VOTE, then pasted the copied stuff into the blank e-mail - got only the section headings. Fraid I lost interest then - at my age the old span of attention aint what it was. And chronic Alzheimers often sneaks up when I least expect i

Doc, what am I doing here ?

You could just write down the selections and post to favouriteplayer@hotmail.com . Only put the voting form on to make it easy to vote Ken could you pass the drawing board over please.
Kegs, Rik, any ideas on making this easy - it's been tough enough getting out of bed the last 10 days let alone making web forms work.

Sorry lads, not meant to sound like I was having a go, I just thought Outhouse was up to its usual trick of butting in without being invited. Every message it sends comes back as undeliverable with some poxy message that makes out that I did something wrong, when I never would have used the bliddy thing in the first place. Grrrr!

For a free cgi form hosting site, try response-o-matic

Just put in any old thing so it feeds back the cgi code, then put that around your own form stuff. I had the same problems of my html forms bringing up blank email in Netscape a few weeks ago. Don't have any idea why, cause every book I have says it should send the info as you code it in, but whatever. The above site is great, and minimal advert type junk. :-)

I HATE b***dy Microsoft. We've just been given new computers with Orifice2000 Outhouse etc. I've just spent ages trying to freeze a column in Excel and given up in disgust - can anybody help??! =:-]

I've had a player of the year page up all season, I'll have to check it out to see who's winning (bet it's Shearer or Dyer). The 1999-2000 nufc player of the season

I don't know that much about forms and all I know I got straight out of a book, but this is a free site which allows you to build your own forms and will also put the results into a nice little chart. It may be cheating but it's very tidy. www.formsite.com

Player of the Year - latest
Alan Shearer 33.33%
Warren Barton 14.3%
Nic the Greek 14.3%
Rob Lee 14.3%
LKD 9.5%
Nobby 9.5%
Others 4.8%

And if anyone fancies voting for a keeper other than Harper feel free.

Just ressurecting this one as a lot of you still haven't voted.

I know that some people have had trouble with the automatic form on the Daily Toon site, but if you want to put in your entry just list the categories on a normal E Mail and send it to favouriteplayer@hotmail.com

The categories are: Overall Favourite Favourite Keeper Favourite Defender Favourite Midfielder Favourite Forward

So you get five votes.....bit like today's Mayoral election.

The vote closes next Thursday (11th May) so get your vote in as soon as possible.

It iss currently neck and neck between Al, Warren and Dabs.

Go one, have a go, it won't hurt.....honest
