Players' Wages/Toon dregs

Fascinating football survey in the Inde this week - today on players' wages. Jeemy knackers - they all earn a bliddy fortune, even the crap ones. This reminds me of Bobby's interview in the Times last week. He says he doesn't mind what Alan Shearer earns but thinks "son of a bitch - he earns #450,000 for a squad number" about others at the club.

They're all grossly overpaid but that's down to mugs like us who pay up to keep watching. In my defence, I will say that I hardly ever watch a game on SKY which is the thing that has brought in the really big money.

There is no way out of this. It's supply and demand - the game is hugely popular so the stars will earn the equivalent of stars in other entertainment industries like singing and acting. Having mentioned acting I wish they'd stick to playing football and leave the acting out. De Gooey was a disgrace in that SF game, feigning injury in an attempt to rob us of our momentum.

Talking of Mr Ed, I see Durkin has been given a slap in the chops for not sending him off. My most recent "bliddy disgrace I tell yer" was Minto at WHAM, I think it was his takle that flattened Dyer from behind that was blown for a free kick but no card at all, when I thought it was verging on red and would have been at the start of the season. Did anyone else see that? Worst decision I've seen in the flesh for ages.

You mean when 3000 of us were chanting "off!"? Still can't believe he didn't even give a yellow :-/

The most annoying thing is that replays suggest his lunge at Dabizas would have warranted a card. He was very lucky that half time broke the momentum of the game.
