What's up with playing DVD on Pioneer 525?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Not exactly a VCD question, but I love this forum and would like to get others' feedback.

When playing a regular DVD on my Pioneer 525, (both Matrix and Batman Forever), the color oscillates between too dark and too light in a regular viewing. On its own, the picture just turns dark for a few seconds and then just turns light for a few seconds and this goes on and on throughout the whole movie ... VERY ANNOYING ...

I thought the Pioneer 525 would be a top-notch product, and have seen no mention of this by anyone else. Any thoughts, anyone?

Thanks.

You wouldn't happen to be trying to connect the Pioneer 525 through a VCR because your TV doesn't have AV jacks... would you? If so, it sounds like your describing Macrovision. The VCR is seeing the Macrovision signal and screwing up the video. BTW, if your going to do VCD I would trade in the Pioneer 525 for the Raite 715. Just my opinion...
