close up shooting with digital cameras

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am looking for a camera to shoot pictures of objects as small as a dime.(Beads!) The pictures will be used mainly on our website, so the resolution doesn't have to be very high. I understand I need a macro lens, but I can't find a listing of cameras which shows how close up they can shoot. I'm a beginner, so it needs to be somewhat easy to use, too. I was told one of the Sony Mavicas might be good but I don't like the floppy disk aspect. Any help out there?

Try photo.askey.net and click on "side by side". You can select cameras and compare how close they focus.
