I have a SONY digicam and an Adaptec AHA-8920 1394 interface card. In addition to capturing still images, I also want to capture video recorded on miniDV. What other software and hardware do I need to do so?

You not need any other h/w but you need an editing software e.g. Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 which also can control your DV camcorder.
