16. April 2000Boeing to pay SAS compensation for faulty planes
The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is to pay SAS compensation worth millions for an unusual number of faults on their new Boeing 737 passenger planes.
SAS took delivery of the first planes of this type in 1998.

The new planes have been troubled with a number of problems and faults, and many have been grounded for long periods for technical reasons.
Aftenposten lists broken motor turbines, vibrating fuselages and faulty seats as some of the problems encountered with the B-737s.
SAS has since 1998 taken delivery of 35 planes, and another 21 are on order for delivery over the next few years.
The billion-Nkr contract with Boeing was the biggest in SAS'history, and SAS was Boeing's first customer for a new generation of 737s, Aftenposten writes.
