pizza- and chocolate-eating poos

Talking of scavengers!!! Our first poodle girl, a "backyard bred", was apparently hardy enough to stand up to LOTS of chocolate, as she was able to hunt it out and eat it a couple of times without any ill effects that I could ever detect. The first time was right after we got her, at about 10 weeks old, when "Daddy", who never picks up after himself, had left his Christmas stocking in an accessible place for a bit too long. She left it alone for a while, then decided that, if no one was going to eat those chocolate bars (I think they were Wha-Cha-Ma-Call-Its[sp]), she would take care of that. Before she was detected she had most of the two bars down, wrappers and all!!! I put her on 24-hour watch for signs of poisoning, but she just went merrily about being a puppy with nothing to indicate she had eaten anything but the most healthy food. Then, about a year later, I brought home some groceries, which included a bag of snack- size Snickers for my husband's lunches. I put the bags on the counter in the kitchen and, I don't remember what, but I got distracted by something. That little sneak figured out how to get the back, open it and eat the entire bag, almost, WRAPPERS AND ALL!!! Well, back onto poison watch, but the only thing that happened was, two days later, a big pile, full of wrappers!!! Maybe these unpapered dogs have a SOMETHING in their favor, like an iron stomach or something? Or maybe it was our ignorance, as this was the first dog, much less poodle, we had ever owned, and were just learning the ropes!!!

Anyway, our second girl, Appy, won't touch the stuff, except maybe a CRUMB size piece of brownie on rare occasions. BUT, she DOES like the pizza man. The posting about that made me giggle!!! Ours actually scared one of our pizza delivery people into dropping the pizza, she was so deliriously happy to see him and greeted him with such enthusiam!!! Fortunately, we were able to get to the pizza and the delivery boy before she did, rescuing both and reassuring the latter to the point where he may some day want to OWN one, ours was so "neat".

Well, that's MY food tales and I've taken up far too much space. Sure do enjoy reading others' tales, as well as learning about all the health issues!!! "You rule", PSG!!!

Have a great spring!!!
