Managers of a Web page with information on an AT&T Corp. unit's share offering closed the proprietary site Wednesday after hackers made it accessible to any Internet user, people familiar with the situation said.
The site, EquityShow.com, allowed select investors to view a presentation by AT&T Wireless Group Chairman John Zeglis and AT&T Wireless Services Chief Executive Mohan Gyani. NextVenue Inc. had been hired to create and run the site.
On April 7, an employee of a NextVenue rival logged into the EquityShow.
com site with a valid password and ran a hacking program called WebStripper, the people said. The next day, other unauthorized users were able to enter the site.
