Stuck in a Computer Centre in glorious Wythenshawe - if they ever stick an enema into South Manchester - this is where it'd go.

Here until 3am....Where are you ?

Evening all , I've just got in and it's 5 am Japan time which is 8 hours ahead of you lot but I can't work out the time. I've had a little too much in the way of beverages.

But I've discoovered things tonight. Maibnly that the monkey's head fits to every english karaoke song in Japaan including that really irrirtating song don't breqk my heart my aching breakin heart and te other thing is that I'm absoluitely shitfaced. I would appologise for swearing but looking at the rest of ths message I wqould say that it's probnably typed incorrectly as well. Welll I may be back foljs you've been warned!

Yo Kegsy - what've you had to drink ?

& How much did it all cost ?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Well, let's see how the old typing works this time!!

I think the answer to both uestions is too m uch. I've had too much todrink (just beer) and it cost too much but then gain I avoided my usuaul pub where it costs a fiver a pint. Now I was going to go bwqck qnd speel check this but I think it will probablyt be more iteresting if if I don't.

I'll cjeck it again in the mornijg and prohably be less than impressed with my typiing, but heyt who cares. I CAN'T BELIEVE WE LOST TO LEICESTER. THEY'RE PANTS AND IT MAKES IT

Hey there Josh, Buff`s lurking, and wurking till 7 in the morning, Gas Plant, keeping you all warm down south !!!!, notice you raised the lofty Gibbo from the dead, success, who`s at Wythenshaw ?,used to be the hub of Shell Uk Comms Ops, don`t mention football, bloody 6 points against Hammers?Foxes and we would have had the makems creasing their kecks, Itinary for rest of night, watch MOTD shortly, wee check on things to keep my hand in, curry at 12, read a couple of chapters from Cagneys autobiography, get settled for 3 hours of Yahoo cribbage with our friends across the pond, repeat process on Sunday night then off for 4 days, lifes a bitch aint it Buff

Buff

We're down the road from where Shell used to be.

It's Britains largest online bank - we're big according to Anthony Hopkins. This is one of our data centres. Large square building with tall thin windows and a big Eagle on the front.

Normally I'm in bed by now but there's some performance stuff that needs watching - includes reaction time testing when you knock over a can of Pepsi Max onto your legs.

No TV here - shouldn't really be typing this I suppose. If I understood cribbage I'd come and join you.

Kegsy looked to have had a good night.

That`s me fed and watered, watched the football, Rangers just strolled through it,nice balance in the team and young Barry Ferguson is coming on every game he plays. Advocaat is a hard taskmaster, if YBR retired this is the guy I would like to manage the Toon. I thought you had netted Gibbo tonight but the long man has wriggled free, its yonks since I have heard from him. Never mind you have only 2 and half hours to go, I prefer my two nights, inc the chef max 13 on the plant, deal with the same if not more amount of product during the day, does that not tell the beancounters and benchmarkers anything at all?, not saying they are all tossers mind you , but!!

I'm on O/T - I'll still be in work 5 days this week. What do you do with all the spare time ?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I'm please I'm not the only one who comes on here when they are supposed to be working late and weekends.

Bill, when you have finished the Cagney biog I know someone who would give it a very good home.......one of the greatest actors to ever live IMHO.....what is the biog called, is it a new one.....I've not seen a recent release?

ITK

Did you have the chance to watch the feed today ? All the reports I've seen online say we missed hat fulls of chances ?

Josh, Golf but am struggling healthwise thise year and in a weeks time I shall find out if my plates of meat and jam tart can do 18 on a pretty tiring course up here that we have corporate membership, #2 a round, not bad eh.

Ken, library book, "Cagney" by John McCabe who in 1962 wrote the authorised biography Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy, in 1973 he was selected to ghostwrite James Cagneys autobiography, Cagney by Cagney, this may have been the one you have read. Two moments of magic in my memories of Cagney, both outta White Heat, the scene in prison eating hall where he hears his Ma is dead, the silence, he climbs onto the row of tables and in that stiff legged walk , he clears 4 officers before he is overcome, actors who were acting as other prisoners did not realise what he was intending to do and this shows in their eyes, plus the final scence where he is atop of a vessel on a chemical plant, flames all around and arms akimbo he yells "Look Ma I`m top of the World".

I remember that bit (Look Ma...) and its years since I've seen a Cagney film.

Ah well I'm off now. Have a good rest of the night lads. See you some time.

Josh

My head hurts!

I woke up this afternoon (2pm) and didn't feel too good. Looks like it's another Sunday wasted.

Bill....agree with the White Heat moments, but my magic Cagney scene has to be the end of Yankee Doodle Dandy when he is coming down the stairs of the White House and starts to tap dance.....absolutely sublime.....fav Cagney flms are White Heat, Angels, Yankee and the little shown Man of a Thousand Faces, where he plays Lon Chaney......

Other film Fav's....Fred Astair hitting the line of golf balls in Easter parade (I Think?) dancing across the grass, swinging the club round and eaveryt one left the ground, not all in a straight line it has to be said, but oh to be ableto do somethng like that with a goilf club.....and rumour and legend has it all in one take!

The Buffalo will be on duty throughout the night ensuring the well being and security of fellow bbs` users. Kegsy had us worried last night and a APD was in the process of being put out , but thankfully our Japanese representative re-emerged in time. Josh was doing a "Watergate in Wythenshawe" through the night, not working tonite, has a "sore throat" is the excuse. ITK put another lonely shift in at the Beeb, locked for 12 hours in a broom cupboard trying to contact the two downed airman and finally Jay, as Mad Max Bygraves was wont to say, "Pull up a floor" and I,ll tell you a story.

Reporting in at 23:20pm BST I have downed a nice bottle of wine and me kitchen looks like a bomb site.....all is well with the world :o)
