Fuji 1700

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I recently bought a Fuji 1700 and took a few trial shots downloaded them onto my PC via the serial cable port all was ok and I managed to print them with surprisingly good results for a beginner.

Yesterday friday the 14th I took some more shots all was fine, I was able to view them via the lcd monitor. Then came the crunch, I inserted the Smartmediacard into my newly acquired Fuji floppy disc adapter and all it showed was the images I had taken previously none of those taken friday. So I loaded the card back into the camera to see if all was ok, No it wasn't, now I can't even view the original images either. Can you throw any light on what has happened. I havent a clue as I've tried everything. When I try to view through the scrolling method on the camera it shows me a line of zero's. I've cleaned the card and made sure it is inserted properly but stillno luck. If you can assist iwill be truly grateful. Thanks Regards Mick

It's probably not going to be too reassuring, but I had a similar problem with my Toshiba PDR-M1, once upon a time. I think it's a matter of the formatting getting messed up on the smartmedia card and causing the strange results. I had the same thing happen in that the camera showed the correct images, the card reader either showed the old ones or none and then they failed to show up in the camera. Frankly, I'm a bit baffled as to how it happened. Perhaps it was a mess up in the card in terms of storing the new files, but a lower resolution "thumbnail" image was available for in-camera display?

At any rate, I gave up on it and just formatted the card and had no further problems. It was odd enough that I recall it happening, though.
