LEICESTER MATCH DAY THREAD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Hello all its 11:30am and I am getting nervous and a bit sick as my mate has just told me we aren't going out tonight as planned (her brithday) as she is not feeling well. I could have ruddy well gone to the match like I wanted to!!!!! But I will try to make the Leeds gamne come hell or high water.

Never mind all that...who is going to be about??

Jay

Hi Jay - I will be about, as usual. Just checked the statistics, and noticed that I have crept up to second place in the number of postings - why did the phrase `get a life` instantly spring to mind!?

I put it down to the fact that I don`t get to the matches and am on line for every game - well that`s my story and I am sticking too it!

Crazy day today - I`m showing tomorrow, therefore have to bath dogs, listen to the match, pack the car (6 am start) tart myself up, cos we`re going out to dinner tonight. And it`s 11.30 already, and I haven`t done anything yet, and Yelli has just realised that she has forgotten to wash the New Milton Eagles kit which has to be ready for one o`clock! Talk about panic stations!!! We do have fun! (:o)

I may be about later but it would probably be best if you ignore everything I say as I'll be out on the Shandy's and not sure what time I'll be back. I could be back in time for some part of the second half. But whether I'll undertsnad it is another matter entirely.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Logging of now as I have a room to pull apart which is about to become my study lar dee dar ;o)

Back before 3pm

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Quarter to One, and I'm usually in the Strawberry by now, But I'm having a Beer free game. So for once, nipping up in the car and comming straight back home after the game. Not Ideal, but problem getting a baby sitter. I'll be able to tell you all about our emphatic win an hour or so after the game.

Good morning from sunny and WARM Bah-stin. Supposed to get up to 70F today. Hope it lasts at least until the end of the Revs game tonight. Knowing New England weather, it'll probably be snowing by kick off. ;-)

Anyone else around? Anyone in North America know how to get BBC world service? I bought a shortwave radio on my way out of Heathrow but can't figure the bliddy thing out.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

No worries...we'll knack them.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Shearer heads over. Hope it's not gonna be another one of those afternoons. Perhaps next week should be spent on shooting practice for all our players?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Hi Pilgrim. Not a good start eh?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Come on lads....Settle it down.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Speed is having a bit of a " mare"

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Hi Galaxy,

We need to get a grip of this game. It sounds like some of them haven't woken up.

Hughes misses a sitter!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Tell me it wasn't Cottee ????

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

What the eff was that..shoulda been 1-1

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I'm having a severe attack of the Dougals right now. It really sounds like we've got no chance at this point. Hope we can hang on til half time so Bobby can give them all a good bollocking and hopefully pull a result out in the second half. arrrrgghhhhh!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Yes Jay..it was Cottee

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Chin up Ciara. They,ll get it right. Just a matter of time.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

On the good side this commentater is much better than the last few.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Ahhhhhh not Cottee the minute I saw he was playing I thought....he always scores against us...like Dunc used to for Everton

;o(

COME ON THE LADS

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

My God, things must be bad if Ciara`s faith is wobbling! I`m putting it down to sore feet and jet lag! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Pete...that's what I said on Sunday...and on Weds. :-(

Then again we played well both times. Well for an hour on Weds. Maybe by playing cr@p now we'll still get a result. Or something. I'll just go pick up that straw now. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I can see Maric coming on in the 2nd half and proving his worth at long last with a great display and two goals.

Yes I have been drinking

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Deb - your right, it is the better commentator.

Hiro - don`t know what you`re drinking, but mine`s a double! (:o) hic!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Maric is not well he has sinus or sinititus according to the commentater.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

GAVILAN GAVILAN GAVILAN! It's time to give the boy a run out. He can't be any worse than what's already on the pitch. And it's just the situation where he cmay well score. I think Robinson was supposed to be on the bench. Haven't heard who the subs are though.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I am agreeing with Ciara! :-))

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I wish the lineup of the next match would be: Harper; Griffin, Beharall, Caldwell, Hughes; Gavilan, Maric, Fumaca, Glass; Robinson, Chopra.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

AAhhh-Hhaaaaa! It`s that Uriah Renee again! Suggest we compile a list of people we want inside Wembleeeeeeeee before we nuke it! (:o)

HOWAY LADS - GET ONE BACK BEFORE HALF TIME!!!! (blimey that had a familiar ring)

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Urinal Runny as the ref and Jeff Winter as the 4th(?) official? What little hope I might have had has disappeared now. NURSE!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

So who is on the bench then ????

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Yessss I have commentry at last ;o)

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

COME ON - MAKE THE MOST OF THE CORNER!!!!!!! or not as the case may be .........THIS TIME..........no....(:o(

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I heard today that Wembly knock down has been delayed again, & will remain up another year. :-(

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

You just trying to chher us up deb?

C'mon Lads what the hell is going on? It's raining here in Washington, so I thought I'd log on for a few minutes to cheer mesel up, and what do I find? 0-bloody 1. Great!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Hiya Clarky. Keep that rain down there another 12hrs, ok? Foxboro stadium is uncovered and I don't fancy getting p*ssed on during tonight's game...when the REvs will thrash DC United!

Well, I have to be overly optimistic about something today. ;-))))

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Clarky! Well hello! Look what`s happening when you`re not here! Hope you are keeping out of the way of the demonstrations over there. Hope Wor Bobby does a bit of arse kicking at half time! (:o(

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Sorry, I thought i'd keep the bad news confined to the first half.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Right Bobby - work your changing room magic while I feed my pooches and grab a coffee!..... see you in a min.....

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Hi Ciara - you made it home safely then after your Wembley adventure. Sorry I missed you. I know what you mean about the weather - we're supposed to be going to see the Baltimore O's on Monday night, with rain forecast!! HAWAY THE LADS - must be HT is it. What are the prospects for the 2 nd half?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Right. Time for Bobby to throw around a few teacups and kick a few @rses.....Hopefully we'll see (hear) our lads come out fighting in the second half. There's no reason we can't get 1 or 2 goals. Perhaps Solano making way for Gavilan. Speed off, Dyer drop back, Robinson on. Maybe?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Half-time non football question. I watched M Parkinson on TV tonight with guest Vanessa Feltz. Can anyone in UK tell me who was her scum- bag of a husband. Was he " a celebrity ". I want to avoid him.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Got to go folks. I'll keep my fingers crossed, and talk to you soon.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Yep, Clarky, back in Boston. After a 6hr flight with the male flight attendant equivalent of Chris Sutton. Actually that's a bit of an insult to Chris Sutton. ;-)

Are you in DC on holidays or business? It's usually a nice time of year down there. Hopefully the rain will let up. Not sure if the trees are still blossoming there. They're all in bloom around here the last day or so. It's gorgeous.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Sorry Deb, I missed Parkie..... whoever he was, he obviously made quite an impression on you!(:o)

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Can we sub our entire squad and but the bairns on?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

OMG I NEED A DRINK NOW

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Come on lads lift it !!!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Harper; Griffin, Beharall, Caldwell, Hughes; Gavilan, Maric, Fumaca, Glass; Robinson, Chopra. I WANT THIS TEAM!!!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

CMON LADS, GET YER HEADS UP! fIGHT!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Agree with ya for today, SEedorf. At least your lot is fresh and would likely have a bit of fight int hem. I think our first teamers are just knackered at this point.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

That's it I'm off to the fridge for a bottle of " Ciara" err I mean Brown Ale

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

COME ON YOU LOT - YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS, AND WE DESERVE BETTER, AND THE FOLKS STANDING OUT THERE IN THE FREEZING COLD DEFINATELY DESERVE BETTER!!!!!!!!!! GET STUCK IN!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Just got back...what happened???? 0-2, is that correct?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Have one for me, Hiro!

this is a collective nightmare we're all having, right? *sigh*

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Got it in one Pete.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Just got back myself - but definately heard the commentator refer to 0 - 2 - I`d luv it if somebody told me I heard wrong! (:o( please.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

wtg Galaxy, You tell 'em girl.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Even Leicester are trying to help us now!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Gavilan and Robinson warming up. YEs!! Sooner rather than later, please. Give them time to do something!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Diego and Robbo warming up. Bring em both on Bobby...Might inject a little enthusiasm into this game.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

man 3 makems 0

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Spuggy & Robinson coming on.

COME ON THE LADS....

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I think gallivantin` Diego Gavillan needs to get out there and strut his stuff - same goes for Robinson - lets see if he has gained a bit of maturity.......our team definately needs a bit of refreshing.

Nobby and Huges off.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Right, here we go. Gavilan and Robinson coming on. Show us what you can do lads!

Hughes and Solano off. Sounds like Jeff Winter ran out of toes with the numbers board

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Come on now, let the young lads run at them........

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Jay...Spuggy?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Gavilan - Sparrowhawk. Nickname from the old country

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

But where does "Spuggy" come from?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Gavlian .....his name mean Sparrow Hawk hence Spuggy

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

HOWAY LADS!!! At least TRY to make it interesting for the people freezing in the stands.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

A spuggy is a sparrow in geordie

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

ahhh...the lightbulb flickers on. ;-)

Sounds like we've got a bit more life now. I'd love Shearer or Robinson putting into the net from a Gavilan cross. Cmon lads!!!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Anyone think we might produce three goals in the next 15 mins?.......Hmm......didn`t think so....... (:o| Even the supporters there are beginning to leave....bad sign.

Another game where the firsthand match reports on here will make interesting reading.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Fumaca on Lee off ???

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Fumaca replaced Dyer.

Nothing new about supporters streaming out of SJP. Happenens even when we're winning. Most distressing to those of us who'd kill for a season ticket. And stay until the very end. :-/

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Macs 4 Mackems 0....

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

It is a curious phenomenon, considering the costs involved. You`d think you`d want your money`s worth, wouldn`t you?

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Oh well.

It's been a funny old week.

Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox. Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox. Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.Bollox.

Feel a bit better now

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

That's what I don't get. It's understandable that there are always a few people who genuinely need to leave due to work or family commitments. But not the numbers that stream out. It's not like the trains stop running at 5pm.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Well that just about rounds off a less than perfect week. Still, I have the pleasure of getting up at five o`clock tomorrow and driving up to Birmingham in the freezing, pouring rain. Rats, rats, rats. Bye folks, I`ve had enough for this week. (:-{

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

So glad this week is over in terms of results!! Hopefully they can all rest up and get sorted out before Leeds next Sunday!

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

Thats it folks G'night all.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I agree with you ciara, we will smash Leeds next week. Come back strong and finnish ahead of the makems.

-- Anonymous, April 15, 2000

I think we needed to get that out of our systems...
