I am a junior at St.Louis University. I am doing a research paper on domestic violence. I am stating that causes for DV are, upbringing, alcohol& drugs, and mental problems. I am having difficulty finding info. on the mental problems that could cause DV. I hope my request was understood. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Jeff: Possible mental problems could include bi-polar disease, depression, low self esteem, lack of confidence any number of mental issues however I believe the stated facts that children learn what they live and most likely something has happened in their lifetime that has scarred their emotions and this is the way that they protect themselves

One point: gender does not cause domestic violence. Men and women abuse each other in about equal amounts.
