Make plans now to come to the third annual Peace and Carrot's Homestead Labor Day Party! September 1,2, 3 & 4, 2000

The party will be a get-together celebrating homesteading and homesteaders. Workshops include short versions of our usual offerings: rope making, homestead boat building, ice cream making, chicken tractors, underground house building, wood-fired bread oven baking, medicinal herbs, herb garden planning and design, cooking from the pantry and root cellar, the homestead orchard, worm composting, edible landscaping, homestead permaculture, solar cooking, getting prepared for lean times, making compost, homestead water systems, seed saving, cider making, stocking up, homeschooling and special children's workshops.

Come camp in our fields and woods. Bring a tent, or make arrangements to use ours. We will have a pig roast on Saturday, there will be tours of our underground home and the organic gardens, daily potlucks and nightly campfires. There are two creeks on the property for cooling off and playing in. Curtis Pond is a mile away. Expect any sort of weather from hot and humid to cold, dry or rainy. There is a double-seater outhouse in the field for your use. If you would like to teach a workshop, let me know what and when. By donation. For more information, send $1 and a SASE to Wendy Martin, PO Box 69, Calais, VT 05648 or e-mail me at IM4farms@aol.com see the web page at: www.homestead.com/peaceandcarrots

Boy, this sounds great! I am envious of people who can attend. Someone in the Midwest throw one of these things!

Forget the midwest! Howabout the northwest? Everything I've seen is always at least 1/2 the country away!!!! And my husband is a truck driver. Can't get away for more than overnight. My mother can take care of things around here if we go somewhere, but there is nothing like this out here!!!! annette

Rachel and Annette, a saying that we hear at our church occasionally is, if the Lord has laid a need on your heart, then you are probably the one He wants to do something about it! We are close enough to attend Wendy's party, but my husband would have little to no chance of getting that weekend off from the two hopitals where he works (that's if we are still here by then, anyway -- we're hoping to sell and move).

Wendy: I will sure try to get there. I'm just across the "pond" (for those of you who aren't familiar, I talking about Lake Champlain.) I live in an undergroundhome so will be eager to see yours. I will have to put some thought into it, but perhaps I will be able to put on a demo or something. Will be in touch with you personally as soon as I get a chance.
