Letter on Monster Card

Just read someone's mesg saying that the letter on the monster card indicates how "rare" the monster is. Well, I just want to make a comment that being "rare" doesn't guarantee that a monster is strong. For instance, off the Kagero CD (Deception 2 or something in English) I made a monster called "tokibito" (which is interesting because in the Kagero game, the race of immortals is also called tokibito, and the colorings of the tokibito in MR2 is very similar to the dress colors worn by the female main character in Kagero). But anyways, this tokibito monster has an S rating on its monster card, but it's not as strong as I would have hoped for an S monster. So, what I want to know is, are there other monster with an S rating on their cards and how do they compare? Of the 25 or so monsters that I've trained, I've only had 1 S-on-card monster (tokibito) and 1 A-on-card monster (Phoenix).

Rare dosn't mean good. Such as the Ninja Kato or Frog Hopper (both A), they both are just like the normal monsters except with a differt costume. Don't go by the letter on the card, go by how good it is when you raise him.

I dunno about the Frog Hopper, but the Ninja Kato really kicks butt, that is if you get the correct intelligence technique.

Also, the "class S" Cinder Bird is great, as well.

As to the original poster, I tend to think that the rarer a monster is, the better it is on the average. Just take a look at the phoenix, zilla hybrids, durahan hyrbids, etc.

i disagree. i'll post elsewhere more completely, but many rare monsters are weak, at least as measured by their starting stats. this includes metalners, wrackys, and bajarls.

It also does affect the creature. I got a "s" class from Kagero's Deception 2 which is a time noise and it's card said it's secret goal is to atain immortality and although its stats are horrible(mostly level(1-3), it has lived for 4and the half years....without a golden peach!

The letter I've found serves one purpose, rarity. Most cards I have are E with a few D one C right now (a Draco Mocchi) and then rares I got from "special cds" which are either A or in one case an S (The phoenix is the only exception to this rule I've found as it is considered an A even though you can't get it from a CD that I know of). The one Japanese monster you are talking about, is called Time Noise in the US version, but it does look like the main character and the card says it is trying to obtain immortality. (personally I think it was given an S because it came from another Tecmo game, someone verify if other S class monsters come from Tecmo games too)

the way i think it is: E-C on card:easy to find monsters, most get at begining at the game B&A on card:harder to get monsters, such as monsters you get on expeditions S:special monsters(monster/????), i think they are only found on tecmo game cds

If you use techmo's dead or alive, you get a Kasumi, which is a pixie/???, but it's not an S letterd card, it's only an A. So ??? monsters can be something otehr then S. I personaly think Kasumi is a prety good monster myself, too
