A good rule of thumb is to not post stuff like this until you can cornfirm it personally. For example, I've heard of everal ways to get some of the monsters I don't have yet... but I'm not going to pass them on as definite info until I get the truth myself. same with items... it doesn't help to say 'I think it does this...', unless you've actually tried it and can confirm the effects.

I appreciate you wanting to be reliable, B, but sometimes a guy could use a lead, no matter how farfetched or unreliable it may be. Besides, if five or six people try something instead of one, the overall results will be better. You may try it just so, but the rest of use may add subtle variations that result in a success. We pop back on, explain what we did differently, and we all walk away happy. I would love to hear some of these rumors you're hiding. As long as you put a "This is just something I heard" or "I'm not sure how reliable this is" before it, I won't take it as gospel. But I'm willing to risk several wild goose chases to find that damned Zilla. And no making up stuff just to see how gullible I really am. (But he said that breaking the CD would give me a maxed out Zilla...)

Well, like I said, if someone actually does something, then there shouldn't be any problem posting it. If you go wayyy back to before the US release, I posted about how to get a ghost based on info from the japanese game. I specifically stated that I wasn't sure if all steps were neccessary, etc, but I still had that personal experience. The problem arisies when someone just takes something they heard or read, and transcribes it here as fact: not only could it just be a wild rumor, but there's the possibility that the person mangles the info along the way. It's just not helpful, as we can see above.

Anyway, as for the Zilla... I've already gotten the warning for and (unsuccessfully) fought the Zilla King. He's tough. I had a B class monster go on the Ski errantry, that's where you find him. My monster had 100 fame, not sure if that matters, and I was a rank 6 trainer. good luck... i'm trying to get him to come back now that I think my Drahan can whomp him

I've been avoiding these sites a little.... wanted to find out on my own as much as I could.

Going to these sites has lead me to a few questions:

WTF is a: Zilla Jill Mock Ducken (already fought one. how do I get it) Big Whale Dude (Goatrek) Duhran Dragon Small Dude in the shell

and one more question: I got the "Fun Can" (not fun at all in my opinion) and I got a Wooden Duck, what does it do? I can't use it to combine with

What does a crabs claw do?

How many times can I upgrade my monster pen?

I think thats it, I'll be around eventually to check for responses...

Zillas:The Zillas are the whale things. Ducken:After you got the wooden doll you have to find the Stong Glue on the Torles mountain expidition. Then Colt combines them and you get a better doll. Use it when combining to get the Ducken. Mock:Mock is a tree monster some time when you go to the item shop the lady will give you seeds, then you plant them. After a while your tree will grow bigger and bigger. Then it'll get old and Colt asks if you want to water it. Say yes. It'll look dead. Then when you have a monster die I'm not sure if you have to give the monster a funeral. Then when you should go to town (because you don't have a monster) Colt will say there's something in the pen. The doors will open and there will be a Mock. Colt asks if you want to let IMA take care of it. I don't think it matters what you say. Jill:First you have to find the feetprint at the Torles mountain expidition. Then you go to send your monster to errantry on skill. If your lucky the guy will warn you about a creature. If your lucky you'll fight a Jill. I'm not sure if you have to win or not to get the boots. But when you combine using the boots you'll get a Jill. Durahan:To get Durahan you have to find the Old Sheath in the Parepare expidition. Then go to the item shop and the lady will tell you about people stealing swords. After that if you have an A class monster you'll get invited to a battle against a Durahan for the Double-Edged Sword. Use the Double-Edged to combine and you'll get a Durahan. Niton:Ithink the small dude in the shell is a Niton. If they are then you have to get a Hopper up to B class and he might dig up a hot spring with a crystal. Take the crystal to the shrine and the girl will take it so you can get them and Undines off of cds.

Thanx Fritz, wasn't sure if all those monsters were even real. =)

Haven't been playing Monster Rancher much... Got into Half-Life again...

-- Just Alex (aka_cp@hotmail.com), September 25, 1999.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Undines, you get a tablet taht you use when combining. The crystal you take ot the shrine is for Metalners.

The Crab's Claw gives a +50 bonus of ski and def in the offspring when you use it to combine.

You acn upgrade the stable twice, AFAIK.

You can give the duck doll to your monster, with some good effects. Otherwis,e hold on to it when you go exploring.

okay here's the thing with rare CDs the reason not all of 'em produce rares is because some are reprints, while other have bonus tracks. For instance Nirvana's Neverind produces a Swimmer, but Nirvana fans know that there was at least 3 reprints of this album (One with bonus "hidden tracks", one without, and a reprint) so if you don't have the "correct" print, you get another monster. This is the case with all the rares. Note, (though this is not verified totally) the rares from Playstation games (especially Tecmo's own games) should theoretically produce the rare always as there has never been a case of a reprint with changed tracks on a Playstation game. I hope this helps alleviate all the rare problems.
