The questions asks what element has the configuration [Ar]4s23d2 which I answered correctly as Ti. Then it asks

I meant then it asks what is the group for the element? Im not sure how to get this answer. please help.

I would suggest doing a different problem because the text only talks about A group elements. This means that the group names for transition metals are not in the book (Ti is a transition metal). Try to do one where you get an element in the A group and the group should be something like 1A, 2A, 3A, etc..

when the question asks for the element with the configuration, which you got, and then the group, you have to look at the numbers across the top of the periodic table....there are several ways of denoting the group. When you get this point, the next thing is asks is the period, which is along the right side of the periodic table.

Again I wish to reiterate a statement I made here before, to help you to my best potential, the number of the problem you are working on is essential. Then I can see the problem, and see how CALM would like you to answer.
